Port of Esperance Operational Information

Berth 1 is a land backed berth that services predominantly Grain products with fixed infrastructure on the berth.

Any vessel outside of the following berth parameters will require written authorisation from SPA PoE Operations to confirm loading conditions prior to berthing. Woodchip vessels may be loaded with a beam of up to 36m.

Berth 2 is a multipurpose berth with a mobile concentrate loader and dual purpose container crane.

Berth 2 Bulk Concentrate Loader

Berth 2 Container Crane Parameters (Container Mode)

  • The shiploader is connected via conveyors to the adjacent shed 6
  • Length of working zone: 140m berth traverse
  • Load rates of up to 2000tph may be possible
  •   air draft with boom at horizontal, to water line is approximately 12 metres
  • Span of crane long travel from centre of boom: 290m mark to 430m mark
  • Length of working zone - 140m berth traverse
  • Loader outreach in container mode: Approximately 33m from face of fender (or up to 13 container widths)
  • Span of nickel loader long travel from centre of boom is 250m mark to 390m mark
  • Lifting capacity under spreader: 40t /Lifting capactiy under hook (no spreader):52t
  • Loader outreach from face of fender - 20m
  • Air draft with boom at horizontal, (under the spreader) is 26.35m +/- tide.
  • Maximum wind working zone - Up to 20 metres/second
  • Maximum wind working zone - Up to 25 metres/second

  • Container Crane - Grab Mode

     
  • Maximum load inclusive of grab: 28t
  • Grab is capable of accessing 12m below water level
  • Maximum outreach from fender face: 24m
  • Maximum beam for any sulphur vessel is 32m
  • Discharge rate of up to 1000tph may be possible

    Berths one and two are one continuous structure, starting at 0m mark West end of  berth one and finishing at the 457m mark, East end of berth 2




    Berth 3 is a dolphin berth that services bulk concentrate (largely iron ore) through a mobile shiploader.

    Any vessel outside of the following berth parametres will require written authorisation from SPA PoE Operations to confirm loading conditions prior to berthing.
